Emma Spencer

Clinical Psychologist

Emma is a Clinical Psychologist who has a special interest in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and families.  Her background has been varied and included employment within hospital and community settings, both public and private.  Emma also worked for a number of years in consulting, as a trainer, project manager, neuropsychological assessor and also provided employment selection and transition services. Her leadership roles have included Site Manager, Clinical Supervisor and Executive Level Allied Health representative.  Emma is trained in a number of evidenced based therapies including CBT, ACT and DBT as well as Art and Play Therapies and she has written a number of therapeutic programs for mental health facilities nationwide.

Her clinical role within Spencer Health focusses on providing complex assessment services for children 0-18 years presenting with neurodiversity and learning difficulties as well as other complex developmental presentations.  Emma is a licensed 123 Magic trainer and Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator, with a passion for working with parents to improve their confidence in parenting.

Emma is also a board approved supervisor and is passionate about providing individual and group supervision to trainee and early career psychologists. She is a dynamic trainer, writing and facilitating training programs both for Spencer Health and external agencies.

Given Emma’s experience in Leadership, HR and private practice management, she also provides mentoring services to allied health professionals requiring support in running their own private practice. Emma is also a sought after speaker, presenting on topics such as parenting, child mental health, girls/women with Autism and PDA.

Emma provides face to face and online complex assessments including ASD and ADHD. She is trained in the gold standard tools utilised for these assessments including the ADI-R and ADOS. Emma is particularly passionate about supporting girls and women on the spectrum and also has specific knowledge and interest in Pathological Demand Avoidance.
