Integrative & Functional Medicine
Integrative medicine refers to the blending of conventional (drug based) care and natural / complementary therapies along with lifestyle interventions. It is the practice of medicine that reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, and focuses on the whole person. ‘Whole person’ meaning that optimal health requires the inclusion of physical, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
Integrative and wholistic medicine has gained wide acceptance because many doctors are too busy with day to day maladies and emergencies to deeply engage with the patient in their journey toward optimal health and healing.
Dr Lorna in her consultations uses evidence-based Integrative medicine and makes use of appropriate and various therapeutic approaches, individualized for each patient. These can be biological based therapies, herbs, food, vitamins, minerals and dietary supplements as well as Mind / Body interventions that encourage taking care of the psyche.
Dr Lorna has fellowship from the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM) and is also a member of AIMA, an organization of medical practitioners who seek to provide whole person medical care. She is a member of the RACGP and the practice is accredited by them.
